Invisalign Edinburgh

Would you like to have your teeth straightened but don’t like the idea of traditional fixed braces?

Invisalign® is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. No brackets and wires, and none of the restrictions that come with metal braces

Invisalign® clear aligners are made from flexible plastic: specifically, a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack™ created exclusively for Invisalign® Treatment.

Our dentist, Ashley will create a unique, digital treatment plan that maps out the exact movements of your teeth. Your Invisalign® clear aligners are then designed to apply the right amount of force to the right place at the right time based on your plan. Ashley will be with you every step of the way to monitor your progress and ensure your aligners fit correctly.

Invisalign® clear aligners are virtually invisible — people may not even notice you’re wearing them. You can remove them to eat and drink, to brush and floss, or for special occasions. There are no metal brackets or wires that could irritate your mouth or break.

Unlike other brands, Invisalign® clear aligners are made from patented SmartTrack™ material, which is more comfortable and provides a better fit. Invisalign® aligners are also trimmed based on your gum line for comfort and appearance. At Hope Park Dental Practice, we are proud to provide the most advanced clear aligner system in the world, which has successfully improved over 17 million smiles.

Invisalign Edinburgh - FAQs

How invisible are Invisalign® aligners?

Although not completely invisible, they are made of a clear, medical grade plastic that’s custom designed to fit snugly over your teeth. They are nearly impossible to spot unless someone is looking very closely.

When can I take my Invisalign® aligners off?

You can remove your aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. You can also remove them for special occasions, like a wedding, job interview, or for playing your favourite sport or instrument. It is important though that you wear them 20 to 22 hours a day to get the best results.

How long will it take to straighten my teeth?

No two people are the same and this means that the treatment you require will depend on the complexity of your orthodontic issues. For simple cases it could be as short as 6 months but for more complex cases it could be 24 months. Typically, Invisalign® takes between 12 and 18 months to straighten teeth.

Is Invisalign® treatment painful?

Invisalign® treatment moves your teeth by applying gentle, constant force, so some people do feel temporary discomfort for the first few days of wearing a new set of aligners. It’s a sign your Invisalign® clear aligners are working! Get in touch with us if you have any concerns or experience continued discomfort.

Will my speech be affected by my Invisalign® aligners?

It usually takes a couple of days for your tongue to get used to having your aligners in your mouth. At first, you may have difficulties pronouncing ‘s’, ‘sh’ and ‘z’ sounds or you may have a slight lisp. This usually disappears quickly.

Do I have to brush my teeth every time I eat with Invisalign®?

We recommend that after eating, you brush your teeth to ensure that they are clean and there is no food trapped between your teeth and your aligners. If you are not able to brush, rinse with water before putting your aligners back in.
